Wild is embedded in the Flicks team as strategic engineering partner — auditing a decade-old technical estate and proving modern React and AI inside a live entertainment platform, piece by piece, with no big-bang rewrite.
Codebases audited across the entire technical estate.
Markets the platform serves — NZ, Australia and the UK.
Fundable phases on the roadmap out of the audit.
Ageing admin tools consolidated into one dashboard — built, in testing with the Flicks team.
Login implementations unified into a single auth service.
Data parity achieved by the new member-migration importer.
Flicks is a leading entertainment platform — where people across New Zealand, Australia and the UK go to find what’s on across cinema and streaming, and decide what’s worth watching.
After ten years as a content publisher, it’s becoming a personalised, member-driven product. Underneath that ambition sat the complexity that growth leaves behind: eight codebases across three markets, three ageing admin tools, two databases and a fragile sync layer holding it all together. The way forward had to be proven inside the live product — not promised in a rewrite.
We audited Flicks’ entire technical estate and turned all of that complexity into a clear, fundable five-phase roadmap.
Then we proved it inside the product: a modern React micro-frontend reverse-proxied into the existing site — no big-bang rewrite, no parallel build drifting away from reality. It’s live on staging with production cutover next, and the new dashboard is in testing with the Flicks team.
Movies, cinemas, streaming and editorial in one place — with a working AI assistant prototype over a unified search index, roadmapped to embed across web and app.

Three ageing admin tools, two databases and a fragile sync layer, consolidated into one platform on Laravel 11 and Filament v3 — built, and in testing with the Flicks team ahead of cutover.

A decade of complexity doesn’t need a rewrite. It needs a roadmap — and proof, shipped piece by piece.
